Letter to Windsor Businesses
April 14, 2011

Dear Windsor Business,

We are pleased to tell you about an exciting new opportunity for Windsor High School students. Windsor Public Schools and the Windsor Chamber of Commerce, through the School/Business Partnership, are piloting an innovative program this summer. The purpose of the Summer Internship Project is to place talented Windsor youth in business and industry to prepare them for higher education and the workplace. The program will identify students through a teacher recommendation process, provide classroom instruction in the "soft skills" critical to workplace success prior to placement and offer ongoing support to students through visits with a teacher mentor throughout the four weeks of the program.

We need your help to make this project a reality. Classroom instruction in workplace skills is a start, but our students need to bring those skills into the 21st century workplace. For our program to be a success, we need business sites that can provide a 4 week paid internship for our students. Can you help shape the workforce of tomorrow? If you are interested in learning more about the Summer Internship Project, please contact Jane Garibay, Executive Director of the Windsor Chamber of Commerce at 860-688-5165 or Deborah Maccarone, Supervisor of Career and Technical Education for Windsor Public Schools at 860-687-2020 x332. We look forward to discussing how you can participate in this wonderful learning opportunity for our students.

Best regards,

Summer Internship Project Committee
