Windsor Green Committee - Meeting Notes - 3/25/08
Thank you everyone for bringing great ideas and energy to the first Green Committee meeting. We had 9 people in attendance, 18 people that signed up for the email mailing list, and 5-6 people that mentioned that wanted to be there but couldn't.
Introductions - We talked about the projects that we are all working on. We have a good mix from a building developer/expert that is involved in many things including creating ways to evaluate the "green footprint" of a building, energy and electrical engineers, and a grade school student creating a recycling program at Sage Park.
Mission - We seemed to agree that the mission is to promote local green initiatives, events, and people, and create events of our own. (We can use our email mailing list, and ability to promote with PR.)
Ideas - we went through a list of ideas and picked 3 that we want to handle as a group in the short term:
1) Sage Park Recycling Program - Jonathan is creating a program at school, (a competition) and running into trouble finding a Redemption center to take the 800+ recycleable products from the school per day. We'll also research and find ways to educate adults and children about what is recycleable and why it is important. (Kickoff...Earthday?)
2) Solar Panel / CTCleanEnergy Options signup booth at the Shad Derby Parade - We'll try to create a booth to encourage people to switch to clean energy and highlight the fact that Windsor earned a 1KW solar array that can be installed somewhere in town. Maybe in the Luddy House Building on the town green...? (Shad Derby Parade is May 17th, 2008)
Note: We have now have a site at the Shad Derby and a big tradeshow backdrop and table cover.
3) Awards - We'll send out nomination forms to find businesses and individuals that are worthy of recognition. (The Chamber's Annual Dinner is scheduled for June 13, 2008 at the Marriott.)

April 18th - Earth Day Cleanup
April 19th - Earth Day Celebration at Northwest Park
Next Meeting - Scheduled 6pm on April 8th at the Chamber Office.
