WCC Board Member Highlight
John Waiveris, Invisible Gold, LLC

John is a software designer that moved to Windsor in 2001. He didn't grow up in town, but his grandparents were members of the Chamber and ran Windsor Cleaners for many years.

His company, Invisible Gold, builds, hosts, and sells software for easy to use websites. His career started with 7 years writing the first generation of distance learning software. Before graduating from RPI, his 3D and fractal animations were used in ski films and onstage for the Rolling Stones Voodoo Lounge tour.

John chairs the Green Committee, sets up computers for the auction, is on the technology committee, and helps host "Windsor Today". This past year he was a judge for Chili Fest.

Summer Concert On The Green - Savage Brothers
The Windsor Chamber of Commerce & First Town Downtown invite you to the summer concert series sponsored by Windsor Businesses. Concerts are on Thursday evenings from 7:00 pm 9:00 pm On The Windsor Town Green and are free to the public. For more information call 688-5165

The Savage Brothers, a Hartford based band established in 1984, is a 6 piece funkin , rockin , and rhythm group. The band features a two piece horn section and three brothers of the same last name& .Savage. The band has performed over 4000 shows all over New England, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, The Caribbean, and Mexico. The Savage Brothers have shared the stage with such acts such as Tower of Power, Joan Osborne, James Cotton, Southside Johnny, Lisa Lisa, The Guess Who, Marshall Tucker, and John Cafferty.

All Star Gymnastics An All Star Success By Bob Klein, SBA Counselor
All Stars Gymnastics Academy in Windsor is entering its 4th year of operation. From start up to year-round operation it has been an all star success. The founder, Mary Elges, gave up her career in web design and graphics to return to her love for gymnastics and coaching.

The Academy offers classes for all ages from toddlers to teens. The Academy serves 400 students and employs up to ten full and part-time certified USA Gymnastics professionals. The level 6 and 4 teams won the state championships during the 2007-2008 season and 23 individuals won state championship events and all-around titles.

Mary has built the business with a variety of competitive gymnastics and cheerleading teams and gymnastics classes for children of all ages.

How To Do Business With Federal Government, State Agencies And Local Municipalities
A series of workshops at no charge will be offered for established small businesses whose business strategies include growth with the federal, state, and municipal markets. You will learn of opportunities available to small businesses including resources and programs available, marketing tips, how to find available bids, how to decipher the difference between state and federal set-aside programs, how to develop proposals, networking with large companies, and how to successfully approach a large company. Focus will also be given to navigating through the State of Connecticut's bid portal, understanding the Supplier Diversity Program (SBE), the DBE Program, State and Federal certifications and registrations, along with an overview of the various prequalification processes.

Workshops are held the 3rd Friday of each month (except September) from 9:30 a.m. to 12 noon at Manchester Community College. Classes will be held in Room AST C210 (enter through main entrance by large tower).
--September 5th (first Friday) - Government Contracting 101
--October 17th - Doing Business with the State of Connecticut and the 169 Towns and Cities
--November 21st - Set-aside programs - Differences between State and Federal
--January 16th - Marketing - Capability Statements

Please come join us for a Wine Tasting Fundraiser to Bring Big Al Anderson back Home to Windsor. August 22 5:30 - 8:30 pm at Union Street Tavern. Sponsored by Union Street Tavern. Cost is $40 per person in advance and $45 per person at the door. Proceeds will go towards the Al Anderson Concert on the Town Green, Saturday, September 13th. This summer in July and August the Windsor Public Library will show an old time classic movie each Tuesday night at 7PM. The theme "Out West and Out of This World" says it all. On alternating Tuesday nights patrons can see an old-time western or sa cience-fiction classic. Tuesday, August 19: Galaxy Quest, starring Tim Allen and Sigourney Weaver, 1999.

Mums are available for purchase from the Windsor Woman's Club. Field grown chrysanthemums are available in a variety of colors.
