Good Health is Good for Business

Written By Dr. Vince Lambri, Owner
Curves for Women

Businesses and Corporations whether large or small are constantly faced with many challenges. Success is often determined by how companies improve the performance of their personnel. A way to build a better business is to build a healthier and fitter workforce.

Enhanced Workplace Performance and Environment

The benefits of exercise for employees are well documented. A recent study of more than 200 people at three major corporations led by Jim McKenna Ph.D., of Leeds University revealed that employees' quality of work, mental performance and time management improved an average of 15 percent on days that they exercised. Regular exercise didn't just improve performance. Dr. McKenna's study also reported that employee behavior, respect for co-workers and overall workplace atmosphere increases as well.

Better Fitness Improves the Bottom Line

Regular exercise improves the immune system leading to fewer colds and less absenteeism. Regular exercise also increases energy which leads to greater efficiency. Additional benefits include stress relief which improves mental focus that results in fewer mistakes, accidents and disability claims.

Better health habits including weight loss and lifestyle management lead to a reduction in employee turnover. These factors along with exercise dramatically lower skyrocketing health care costs and lead to an increase in overall company profits.
