POQUONOCK PLAYSCHOOL KIDS BRING DOWN THE HOUSE
Poquonock Playschool's grand "hurrah" for wrapping up the 2005-6 school year was the premier performance of "Beauty and the Beast" and "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs" by the two classes of graduating 4-year-olds. The children were dressed in brightly-colored, mostly hand-made costumes and played their parts with gusto to the delight of parents and teachers. It was truly a day to remember forever.
We hope the children also remember all (or most) of what they learned at school: their ABCs, how to print their names, numbers, colors, and phone numbers, as well as singing, sharing and how to pump swings, to name a few things. When asked what their favorite activity at school is, many say "recess", where they have their choice of playing in the sandbox, jungle gym, playhouse, swings or with a variety of sport balls. The playground surface has recently been covered with soft wood chips.
During the "dog days" of summer after kids have been spending too much time at home and begin asking what to do, parents have the option of sending them to the Poquonock Summer Day Camp from July 31-August 11. Specifically designed for children ages 3-6, the program offers math, science, arts & crafts and a field trip. It is held at the state-licensed Poquonock Playschool 1817 Poquonock Avenue in Windsor. There will be about 15 students with two well-trained teachers.
Although Poquonock Playschool is part of the Poquonock Community Church, we are non-denominational and welcome children from diverse backgrounds of cultures and religions. We offer preschool programs for 3 and 4-year-olds, and new this year are including the option of having your child attend a five-day, full-day session from 8:50 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Call 688-4110 or Director/Head Teacher Filomena Seguin at 916-8034 for more information.
