CALS Members Elect New Officers

At the 37th Annual Meeting on November 5th, a new slate of officers was elected for 2005. Richard P. Martel, P.E., L.S., was voted president, taking over the slot left by two-term president Jennifer Marks.

Rick joined CALS in 1986. In 1990 he became a member of the Board of Directors, representing Middlesex County. In 2000 he was elected Secretary of CALS, becoming second and then first vice president in succeeding years. His support of the organization and the surveying profession has been constant. He has served on numerous committees including the Code of Revision Committee that produced the current Standard for Surveys and Maps in the State of Connecticut, adopted in 1996, criterion by which all surveyors must adhere when performing their work.

He is a proprietor of Design Professionals, Inc., located in South Windsor, Connecticut, that specializes in engineering design development, as well as, survey work.

Rick’s agenda for the new administration includes a continual commitment to education set by President Marks, an on-going effort to increase the Scholarship Fund to $100,000, and an aggressive effort to increase membership in CALS thereby strengthening our efforts in the legislative arena thereby benefiting all land surveyors as well as the public.

Rick can be reached at Design Professionals, Inc. (860) 291-8755 or dpisurvey@aol.com.
