WORTHY Project

Windsor High School students are raising funds for tsunami victims through The WORTHY Project (Windsor Offering Relief Through High School Youth). Donations will be sent to the U.S. Fund for UNICEF which dedicates 95 cents of every $1.00 directly to the victims of disaster. The U.S. Fund for UNICEF meets the Better Business Bureau’s standards for “wise giving.”

The Windsor Chamber of Commerce supports this fund raising initiative and encourages its members to make donations to The WORTHY Project by sending checks to The WORTHY Project, Windsor High School, 50 Sage Park Road, Windsor, CT 06095. Checks should be made out to the U.S. Fund for UNICEF and The WORTHY Project will forward them immediately.

Under H.R. 244, signed by President Bush on Jan. 7, 2005, corporations and individuals may choose to deduct the contribution in either 2004 or 2005, provided the check is mailed by January 31, 2005 even if the charity doesn’t cash it until after that date. Donors should make a notation on the memo field of checks to indicate that they are contributing to “relief of victims in affected areas of the Dec. 26, 2004, tsunami in the Indian Ocean.”

Windsor High School students in the Bridges, Camp Anytown, and Pathways programs are reaching out to their families, friends, and local businesses to help alleviate the vast suffering of families and orphans whose lives have been devastated by this natural disaster.

Please use The WORTHY Project as your safe and effective means of offering relief to these suffering people.
