JOIN THE FIGHT, ITS TIME WE ALL TOOK ACTION
If you believe it s time to focus on fiscal responsibility and a strong plan for economic revival that will retain and create jobs in Connecticut, you need to attend Connecticut Business Day.
The program includes a keynote address and issue interest sessions on state taxes and fiscal policy, labor, manufacturing and small business.
Don t miss this opportunity to get your views heard by state legislators and help them focus on the key business and economic issues facing our state. This program is free of charge, and sponsored by CBIA and the Connecticut Association of Chamber of Commerce Executives (CACCE).
Breakout sessions on the following issues:
Session #1 - Create a tax policy that welcomes business and creates jobs...
Tell state legislators about the business-planning process and the factors that you consider when determining where to locate your company's facilities and/or operations, and make investments. Explain to them that constantly putting business tax changes on the table and not solving the state's fiscal problems result in uncertainty. Let them know that inconsistency and unpredictability make it hard for you to include Connecticut in future plans.
Session #2 - Don't price jobs out of Connecticut: Control labor costs to put people back to work...
Connecticut has among the highest costs in the U.S. for hiring and maintaining a workforce. With costs still climbing and national economy stalled, lawmakers must avoid imposing more employer mandates, unique employee benefits or tougher regulations " actions that will just make it harder for you to grow and retain jobs here. Tell legislators how harmful legislative proposals impact your ability to hire.
Session #3 - Manufacturing drives our economy: Clear the roadblocks...
Manufacturing multiplies: Every job in manufacturing creates more jobs and expands wealth in Connecticut. But what's blocking manufacturers from leading the recovery? Don't miss this special breakout session with key legislators who have a personal connection with manufacturing in the state and others who want to learn about your challenges.
Session #4 - Open the doors to small business.
Come and tell the legislature's Commerce Committee about the challenges you're facing trying to operate a small business during this difficult economic time. Share your suggestions on how to open our state wider to small businesses, and tell legislators to take off the table any idea or proposal that will hurt your business. Show them how committed you are to our state and how their actions affect your ability to succeed.
