Windsor Historical Society announces its fifth house tour for sometime in the fall of 2010. (We are postponing the tour originally scheduled for April 24, 2010.) House tour chair Shirley Quintero is hosting a kick-off planning meeting at the Society on Monday, February 16:00 p.m. to review tasks associated with the event and discuss possible themes for the house tour. Volunteers interested in serving on any of the following committees are welcome!
Houses and Program Book Committee: contacts homeowners, chooses houses, and writes house descriptions for the program book
Volunteer Committee: recruits volunteers for house tour day, organizes and trains volunteers
Research: compiles research notes on homes and homeowners
Logistics: writes travel and parking directions, places signs, program books, booties in homes on day of tour
Program Book Ads: obtains ads from local businesses
Publicity: writes press releases, distributes flyers and posters to Windsor and area gathering spots, photographs homes, gets community television coverage, documents day-of-tour activities
Ticket Sales: contacts prior ticket sales venues, distributes tickets and collects money on weekly basis
Corporate and Business Sponsorships: determines sponsor benefits, secures sponsorships.

In the past, Society house tours have provided the public with a great opportunity to see a sampling of Windsor's wonderful historic homes and learn about the architecture of different time-periods. Costumed Windsor Jesters costumed as early home-owners welcome visitors to homes on the tour, telling visitors about their lives. Planning committee members find that their work provides a great way to connect with the community. If you can help, please attend the meeting and/or contact Shirley Quintero at 860-614-0603 (cell), 860-688-4799 (home) or shirleyquintero@comcast.net.
