"Visions of Windsor" Photography Contest

Calling Windsor Photographers for June 3 "Visions of Windsor" Photography Contest

Attention: Windsor photographers of all ages: The Windsor Historical Society is looking for you! On Tuesday June 3 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., the Society is holding a "Visions of Windsor" photography contest featuring photographs of Windsor people, places, events. Interested photographers who live or work in Windsor are asked to prepare an up-to-ten-minute PowerPoint presentation which may be narrated or silent. Audience members will vote for their favorite presentations, and the following prizes will be awarded based on the popular vote:
First Prize: $200
Second Prize: $150
Third Prize: $100
Fourth Prize: $50.

Photographers interested in participating in the "Visions of Windsor" contest should submit:
Name;
Address (including telephone and e-mail). If non-Windsor resident, please give Windsor workplace address;
A paragraph describing themselves and the focus of their PowerPoint presentation to:

Christine Ermenc, Executive Director, Windsor Historical Society, 96 Palisado Avenue, Windsor, CT 06095 or cermenc@windsorhistoricalsociety.org by May 30, 2008. All presentations must be suitable for a family audience and will be pre-screened Monday, June 2 and Tuesday, June 3 by Windsor Historical Society staff. The contest will only be open to those who have pre-registered for it. Presentations will be strictly limited to ten minutes and may be further limited in time if number of contestants exceeds capacity. Please pass the word!

The Windsor Historical Society, founded in 1921, invites visitors to explore the people, places, and events that have shaped Windsor for over 370 years. The Society's museum includes changing and permanent exhibition galleries featuring the Windsor Historical Society's newest exhibition; Windsor Then and Now: A Photo History 1890-2008; a hands-on history learning center for families; a research library and manuscript collection housing Windsor photographs, documents, ephemera, and genealogical materials, a museum shop and two historic houses open to the public--the 1758 John and Sarah Strong House and the 1767 Dr. Hezekiah Chaffee House.

The Windsor Historical Society is located at 96 Palisado Avenue (Route 159) and is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Tuesday through Saturday. General admission is $5 for adults, $4 for seniors and students and free to children under 12 and WHS members. Admission to the "Visions of Windsor" photography contest is $6 adults, $5 seniors and students, and $4 for WHS members.
