Traffic/Transit Studies
Transit Study in Corporate Area
The Capital Region Council of Governments (CRCOG) has determined that the Griffin Corridor/Day Hill Road area has a high priority for consideration of transit investment. Although it also found that development of a busway does not rank well in terms of cost effectiveness at this time, it has decided to look at ways to maintain and build transit ridership in this area. To this end, CRCOG will conduct a study to examine demographic trends and existing transit service and recommend service modifications that will improve both transit access to potential riders and transit efficiency to the extent possible. It will also address the importance of land use decisions in building future ridership and will lay out principles for land use development to insure that future development can be served by transit. A consultant has been selected for this project and work will begin after contracts are signed.
Route 305 (Bloomfield Avenue) Study
Connecticut Department of Transportation (DOT) and the Capital Region Council of Governments (CRCOG) will conduct a study of traffic on Route 305 also known as Bloomfield Avenue. The study will look at ways to improve traffic flow and safety in the area from I-91 west to Route 189 in the Town of Bloomfield. Clough Harbor and Associates has been selected as consultant for this project. Once the consultant contract is approved by DOT, the project is expected to take 12 to 18 months to complete.
