Job Shadowing
Job Shadowing is a work site experience where students learn about a job by following a competent worker through the workday. The job shadowing work experiece is temporary, unpaid exposure to the workplace in an occupational area of interest to the sutdent.
Students witness firsthand the work environment, the employability and occupational skills in practice, the value of professional training, and potential career options.
Job shadowing is designed to increase career awareness, help students model behavior through examples, and reinformce in the student the link between classroom learning and work requirements.
Almost any workplace is a potential job shadowing site.
Job shadowing is limited in that it allows students to observe for a short period of time; hands-on participation is not required but is valuable to students if the situation permits it.
For information about hosting one or more high school students for aday of job shadowing, please contact Ann at 687-2020 x 282 or Jane at 688-5165.
