Action Items

The following action items are summarized from the 1993 Heritage Tourism Plan and the 2000 Review of that plan.

Recommendations:

Hire a part-time, dedicated staff person to develop tourism

Apply for grants, Local fundraising campaign

Create list of realistic, achievable goals

Communicate with the public

Build a brand that is a variation of the state's weekend getaway image

Develop a critical mass of attractions and amenities

Put together themed events using multiple venues (hotel, retail, etc)

Partner with neighboring towns

Join tourism-focused associations (Amer. Bus Assoc., etc)

Streamline and centralize marketing materials so they are consistent

Create one tourist website, separate from the town's and chamber's
