Chamber member Represents Windsor's Artisans Remains Active Despite Long Distance

By Shari King

"I am still so connected to Windsor." said Sue Roderick.

Roderick is an active member of the Chamber of Commerce despite the fact that she now lives in New Mexico.

In 2000 Roderick and her husband moved out west from Windsor to be closer to family members that had settled there. While living in Windsor Roderick was not only a member but had also served 3 years on the board of the Chamber of Commerce and said her focus while working with the chamber was primarily to recruit new memberships.

"Being a Chamber member is money so well spent," Roderick said. "You get so much more in return. You get opportunities to meet with other business owners, great coverage and networking. The chamber does a wonderful job promoting their members." She went on to say, " It is important that we utilize our local businesses and look for ways to keep people in the town spending their money locally."

Roderick, the proprietor of SAV Imports is currently working to represent some of Windsor's artists by bringing their art into the Southwest. She works in conjunction with Linda Goldstein from the Goldstein Art gallery in Sedona Arizona and other affiliated galleries.

Roderick said, "This gallery is known as a world renowned representative of fine art and is a premiere destination gallery for prominent artists from around the world."

Artist Bill Herzfeld is one Windsor artist Roderick is planning on promoting. Roderick said, " Bills work is very unique and different. His use in metal is very creative and will appeal to art lovers because his work can be displayed outside and used in landscaping." She went on to explain, "These galleries give these artists the ability to have the public see their work in many different venues. They will have exhibits by private invitation; sometimes the art will be displayed in restaurants and town offices. Collectors come from all over the world to these shows and New England art is not something commonly seen in the Southwest so it becomes very salable and sought after."

Herzfeld shared he is pleased to be considered by Roderick and he said, "I am really excited that she is interested in my work and I'm looking forward to my art getting this kind of exposure."
