The Windsor Chamber of Commerce welcomes a new business specializing in digital media communications at their grand opening and ribbon cutting ceremony on February 28.
Jason Bittner and Adrienne Chee Hing are from Canada and met while attending College in Toronto. Both artistic individuals carry degrees in engineering. While working together at Pratt and Whitney, the couple began to feel the corporate world wasn't enough for them.
Bittner said, "The creativity was a bit stifling, just from the nature of the work, the people there were wonderful, but corporate work tends to be impersonal and you never get to meet the people you are working with."
The couple moved to Windsor in 2001 and quietly launched their Web Design Studio business in 2004.
"We moved to Windsor because of the schools and it is close to everything. It has a nice atmosphere, not too big, not too small. We feel we can make a difference here. This environment really works." Bittner said.
Despite the risk of losing the financial security provided by corporate employment the couple are excited about their prospects for their future.
Chee Hing shared, "It is something we talked about since the day we met. It has been like a dream come true. We know the technology and the mechanics of Web design but we also like the creative side of things, we really enjoy the personal aspect of this and being able to work closely with a person. We wanted to be more than a just a place to do business."
Triple Helix Design encompasses every nuance of Web design but are not limited to just a Web site. They create animation, develop logos, automate data processing, install network security, develop wireless networking systems, and set up electronic storefronts.
Bittner said. "We specialize in Web marketing and search engines so people can find you to buy your products and use your services. We'll come right out and take pictures of your inventory. People can buy day or night; the store is open when you're not. A Web site works for you, so you don't have to."
Bittner realistically views the future from a business standpoint and said,
"The Internet is a way to connect but it is also getting so big it is becoming disconnected. We want to create sites that bring people back together. People see Web design and they just stop, but we are a mere doorway and just the beginning into today's technology. Global wireless is the future. Our children will never use the yellow pages. You must be online to exist today. Anyone who has something to sell or a service to provide needs to have a Web site because everyone turns to the Internet for information. It's the first thing people will ask; do you have a Web site? We help people take control of their own destiny."
