Transportation Summit
Join business leaders at the Hilton Garden Inn for a Transportation Summit on May 6 at 8:15 am. The morning will begin with a light breakfast and welcome and introductions by Ron Eddy from the Windsor Chamber of Commerce. Town Manager Peter Souza will give an update on transportation planning and improvments project. The Capital Region Council of Governments and TransSystems will be looking for feedback on proposed transit service changes to serve area employers. At 10:30 the CT Transit will provide an opportunity to see and ride its hydrogen fuel cell bus. Please rsvp below.

Windsor Chamber of Commerce Members Paula Pierce and Matt Berky Chosen as SBA Award Winners
The U.S. Small Business Administration has selected Paula M. Pierce as the 2008 Home-Based Business Champion Award Winner and Matt Berky as the Young Entrepreneur Award Winner for Connecticut and the New England Region. Winners in the Home-Based Business category have experienced the rewards and difficulties of running a home-based business and have volunteered time and energy to improve conditions while working to enhance the home-based business climate. The Young Entrepreneur Award goes to an individual who is under the age of 30 and owns and operates a small business with a three-year track record with success as measured by sales and profits.

Travelers Championship Looking For Volunteers
The Travelers Championship is a nonprofit event that brings exciting professional sports action to town, while raising thousands of dollars for charities throughout the region. The Travelers Championship was able to generate more then $650,000 to contribute to local charities during 2007, and as we plan for 2008, we are working towards our goal of increasing the amount given back to the community.

Police Officer And Firefighter Of The Year Honored!
The Exchange Club held their annual dinner honoring their Police Officer and Firefighter of the year.

The Police Officer of the year was Renee LeGeyt, and the Firefighter was Ken Russell. As our local recipients of this honor each will be invited as our guest along with their family members and friends, to another evening and additional honors from our District Exchange Club where all the clubs from across Connecticut gather on separate evenings to hold two events which are held at the AquaTurf in Plantsville each year. Renee will be honored on May 29th at the District Exchange Club's Salute to Connecticut's Finest. Ken will be honored in October this year at the District Exchange Club's Salute to Connecticut's Bravest honoring all the CT club's chosen Firefighters.
