The 2005 beneficiaries were:
ADVO Summerwind www.swind.org Connecticut's oldest town is home to New England's newest venue for the performing arts, the ADVO SummerWind Performing Arts Center. Located in one of Windsor's most beautiful areas, ADVO SummerWind has taken its place in the region and the arts world as a world-class amphitheater. ADVO SummerWind features a gracious outdoor setting, reserved seating for 1,500 and lawn seating for an additional 2,500. The venue features excellent acoustics, free parking, and a kind, well-mannered staff. Picnic baskets and lawn chairs are, of course, welcome!
Huntington House Museum www.huntingtonmuseum.org The Art Museum on Windsor's Historic Green The majestic Huntington House has been a landmark on the Windsor Green for over 100 years. To us and the community, the house represents the architecture and grandeur of the past. It is a glimpse of Windsor's Center as it once was. Special Events & Art Exhibits in Edwardian Splendor. The Museum is available for rent for special occasions. Hours: Thursday, Friday, Saturday, 10:00-4:00; Sunday, 1:00-4:00. General Admission $6; Senior & Students $4; children under 12 free. $1 discount with BigY card.
Mary's Place www.marysplacect.com Mary's Place, a nonprofit Center for Grieving Children and Families, was established in 1996 by the Carmon Family. The purpose is to provide a trusting atmosphere for children and teens who have experienced the death of a parent, sibling or significant person. Through age-related self-help groups, individual consultation and referral, a safe place is provided to grieve and to heal. Directed by a professional grief counselor, the groups are facilitated by volunteers who undergo intensive training and a background check, and who receive ongoing supervision, support and education.
Police Explorers www.windsorpolice.com/ The Windsor Police Explorers provide helpful services to the community, assisting with traffic and safety at a variety of events, including the Columbus Day Soccer Tournament, Greater Hartford Open, Myron Dewar Memorial Soccer Tournament, Night of 1001 Pumpkins, Nightmare on Broad Street, Northwest Park Country Fair, Rabies Clinic, Shad Derby, and W.H.S. Project Graduation. Members also participate in several community events, including Big-D 103's Caravan of Carriages, Deck the Green, the Fleet All-star Service Project, and Serve New England. In addition to these events, members Adopt-a-Family for the Holidays and prepare meals for the homeless at the South Park Inn.
Windsor Historical Society www.windsorhistoricalsociety.org The Windsor Historical Society offers the public a variety of opportunities to understand and appreciate the people, places, and events that contribute to Windsor's long and evolving history. We offer tours and public programs for school children and adults, and maintain a complex of two 18th century houses on Palisado Green, and a modern facility which houses exhibition galleries, a family learning center, a museum store and a research library. Open to the public Tuesdays through Saturdays year-round, 10 a.m. 4 p.m.

The Windsor Chamber of Commerce www.windsorcc.org The Chamber of Commerce is a non-profit organization with a mission to provide voice for the Business Community on issues of public policy, to help businesses work together for their mutual benefit, and to advocate initiatives that enhance the town's (and region's) economic vitality and quality of life. The Chamber also provides representation on Windsor's Economic Development Commission, the Metro Hartford Alliance, is involved with the Bradley Development League and work with neighboring town on local issues, assists businesses in relocation of their business and employees, publishes the "Business United", a Windsor Business Community Newsletter, the Chamber website and the Tourism e-newsletter furnish the public with resource information on the town and its recreational facilities and tourist attractions, and sponsors many town-wide programs such as Chili Challenge, Nightmare on Broad Street and Shad Derby festival.
