Challenges of HealthcareHealth Champion LLC, a Connecticut based health care advocacy and information service and the Chamber Insurance Trust have entered into an alliance to provide its services to Chamber members. Health Champion was founded by Ida Schnipper, a Masters educated nurse and former executive of ConnectiCare Inc. The company helps consumers make sense of the increasingly complex maze of health care and benefit decisions. Health Champion serves as a resource for objective information and as an advocate for individuals who need help with medically-related concerns and health plan regulations.
The Chamber Insurance Trust has always provided a diversified portfolio of products and services that add value to Chamber members. In aligning with Health Champion, the Chamber Insurance Trust is providing a beneficial resource that will help its membership manage a variety of health care issues.
John Leone, the President of the Chamber Benefits Centers Leadership Cabinet affirms that "in this challenging market it is necessary to incorporate a health advocacy program to support our members' encounters with the health care system. We want our members to maximize the use of their health plan and care resources without taking time away from their business."
In these tough economic times the benefit plan choices that employers make on behalf of their employees is critical. With health plans offering similar products and services, Health Champion, an independent third party with expertise in medical management, chronic care management and health plan operations can work directly with Chamber members to assist them in making health plan decisions. In addition, Health Champion can provide assistance and advocacy for Chamber members and their employees in a variety of clinically related situations including locating specialists, researching treatment options and assisting clients in treatment for a medical condition to obtain the necessary health plan authorizations in order to maximize reimbursement. The services provided by Health Champion extend to assisting Chamber members and their employees with health care coverage issues for their elderly parents and dependent children.

About Health Champion
Health Champion helps employer and consumers understand and use benefits wisely to get the most out of their health care dollars. Based in Farmington, Connecticut, Health Champion, was founded in early 2008 by a former executive of a nationally- ranked health plan. By working with an employer's Human Resources staff, Health Champion can remove substantial burden by working directly with their employees on issues such as selecting the right health plan for employees and their family, assist with claim denials and appeals and even provide guidance on elder care decisions.
In addition to employer-paid services, Health Champion offers Personal Health Care Concierge services on a stand-alone basis. With this customized offering, consumers are relieved of burdensome tasks such as researching the latest treatments for a particular disease, finding appropriate specialists and hospitals and resolving claim denials with their insurance company.
