Ever wonder where that catchy music that draws your attention to advertisement comes from? When watching television, you’ve probably heard music or sound effects by Matt Berky, owner of Massive Productions Inc.
Whether it’s a commercial for Golfer’s Warehouse, a local rapper or R&B singer trying to make it, sound effects for U.S. military videos, or even low-budget films, Matt Berky has done it all.
Berky started with an interest in music. He played jazz guitar in the band at Windsor High School for four years. He became interested in production engineering through his father, who was the director of Connecticut Public Radio. As a child, Berky played with his father’s editing equipment and computers. As a result, he became interested in the music production business.
Taking his interests further, at Plymouth State College he decided to complete a double major in Music Production and Jazz Guitar. Right out of college, he became the manager of a studio called Hart Producers Two, where he stayed for three years. He was so successful, Berky decided to start his own business!
In our town of Windsor, Berky now runs a successful recording business called Massive Productions Inc. Berky’s studio is stocked with the latest and greatest equipment and technology.
In terms of finding success, “Good equipment is necessary. Don’t bother with the cheap stuff. And professionalism is a must,” says Berky.
Today, he uses his talents to add his creative touch to all kinds of projects.
What keeps this businessman going is “receiving calls from clients after finishing really big projects saying that everything was great,” says Berky. “Doing a good job and hearing their feedback makes the challenge of bringing all the pieces together worthwhile.”
