Event:Public Workshop: Updating Zoning Regulations
Date:January 23rd, 2007.
Dear Board, Commission or Council Member:

As a Commission with a vested interest in the future conservation and development of Windsor, the Town Planning and Zoning Commission would like to cordially invite interested members of your agency to attend a public workshop to kick-off the process of comprehensively updating the Town of Windsor Zoning Regulations. Windsor's Zoning Regulations have served the Town and the Commission well, resulting in appropriate, quality development over the years, but 168 separate amendments over the last 21 years have left them less than user friendly in many respects. Town staff has identified an extensive list of issues with the Regulations over the last six months that need to be addressed and there are likely other issues yet to be identified through a broader review by others, such as you. The workshop will be held:

Tuesday January 23rd
7:00 P.M.
Town Hall, Council Chambers
(275 Broad Street)

The workshop will provide a forum for interested parties to discuss the strengths and weaknesses of the current Zoning Regulations and suggest changes for the Town Planning and Zoning Commission to consider as it moves forward with its comprehensive rewrite of the entire Regulations over the next 18 to 24 months.

Additional Commission workshops (open to the public) will be held to refine the Regulations before a second public workshop is held at the conclusion of the Commission's work to solicit feedback on the resulting draft Regulations. The goals of this update process are to:

finish implementing the zoning recommendations of the 2004 Plan of Conservation and Development;
address new trends and eliminate obsolete regulations;
correct identified deficiencies, and
make the regulations more user friendly.

We are sending you this invitation to emphasize how important it is that Windsor's Regulations reflect the needs and desires of those who use them most as well as the concerns of those affected by development resulting from their use. Participants, attending the public workshop will have the opportunity to identify the issues that they feel are important to them and help identify solutions.

We hope that you will take the time from your busy schedules to attend this important event. Our Commission needs to hear from a wide variety of Windsor's citizens.
