Event:Free Calligraphy Demonstration
Date:November 18th, 2008
Time:7:00 AM
Location:L.P.Wilson Community Center
The Windsor Palette & Brush Club will present a demonstration by Granby calligrapher Debby Reelitz, who combines the hand written word with art to produce unique artifacts. She will demonstrate this process on Tuesday, November 18 from 7:15 to 9:30 PM at the L.P. Wilson Community Center, 599 Matianuck Avenue in Windsor.
Debby Reelitz was introduced to calligraphy by her 4th grade teacher which brought her love of words and her love of letters together. While she dabbled for years, it wasn't until after college that she discovered calligraphy could be art while taking a class by Gerry Jackson Kerdok at the Worcester Art Museum in Mass.

Since then she has studied with many calligraphic giants as Brody Neuenschwander, Carl Rohrs, Reggie Ezell, Diane Von Arx and many more. This year Debby is celebrating her 10th year as a full-time calligrapher and marvels every day that in this high-tech world there's still an appreciation for the hand-written word.

Debby is currently the President of the Connecticut Valley Calligraphers, a calligraphy guild based here in the Hartford area, she teaches out of her studio in North Granby and is also the founder of the Granby Artists Association.

She strives to bring words to life through her calligraphic art and will talk about this process during her demonstration.

The demonstration will follow a brief business meeting. It is open to everyone, and refreshments will be served. Visit her website at www.letteringdesign.com and view more of her work at

Note: This is a change from the previously scheduled demonstration of egg tempera by Laura Eden, who was called away by a family emergency.
The Windsor Palette and Brush Club is sponsored by the Town of Windsor's Department of Recreation and Leisure Services.
