Jazz Bones Concert at Loomis
The Jazz Bones are not the ordinary, typical music group, if fact it may be nothing like you have ever heard. Presenting hard hitting jazz, blues in a grove, swing with driving shuffle or a sweet ballad, the Jazz Bones will be performing Wednesday, February 8 from 7:30 8:30 p.m. in the Hubbard Music Center Performing Hall at The Loomis Chaffee School, Windsor.

The Jazz Bones Octet was organized in 1985 as a performing group of the Western Massachusetts Trombone Association. This unique trombone ensemble has arrangements written for five-part harmony. Whether they are playing a hard swing, fast jazz or a sweet ballad, a first class rhythm section backs this ensemble. Their repertoire consists of swing, jazz standards, blues, rock, Latin and funk.

The members of the band include trombonists David Sporny, who has played with Yo Yo Ma, Dave Brubeck, and the Tonight Show band, among many others; Daniel Hendrix, who has performed with The Temptations, Donn Trenner and several orchestras; Eugene Bartley, former Westfield, Mass. music teacher who has traveled with the Four Tops and the Ringling Brothers and Barnum and Bailey Circus; Michael Ferigano, a club artist, he has played with Slide Hampton, Clarence Clemmons and many others; and David Neill, a bass trombonist, he has performed with bands and orchestras for more than 30 years.

Also performing is pianist David O'Brien, a teacher in Worcester, Mass., he has appeared with rock, pop and jazz groups from around the region; bass player Joseph Whalen, who has performed with the Bob Newhart musical tour, Souled Out, and Dr. Billy Taylor; and drummer Chet Pasek, who has been playing since he was 14-years old with live shows, national recording artists, and many others.

The concert is free, and the public is cordially invited to attend.
