Second Photograph Exhibition Opens at Windsor Historical Society in celebration of Windsor's 375th Birthday!

You are invited to The Windsor Historical Society's free opening reception for Windsor Then and Now: A Photo History 1890-2008 on Thursday, May 15th from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Enjoy wine, cheeses and hors d'oeuvres, then journey back in time as you view images showing Windsor's transition from a rural community in the 1890s to the suburban town it is today.

The historic images on display showing Windsor between 1890 and 1980 are paired with views of the same landscapes taken in 2008 by Windsor photographer Wayne Dombkowski. As you will discover, some views remain familiar over time, from Broad Street Green to the stone railroad bridge over the Farmington River. Others have changed dramatically, reflecting how social, economic, and technological changes have shaped Windsor over the past century.

Windsor Then and Now is an exhibition where longtime Windsor residents, newcomers, and visitors can all enjoy comparing Windsor's past and present. The Society encourages visitors to view the images and share memories of Windsor's past, thoughts about Windsor's present and dreams for Windsor's future.

These events are part of an exciting year-long round of programs planned by Windsor Historical Society, the Town of Windsor, and the Windsor Chamber of Commerce.
