Seeds to Success Gardening Class
Just in time for the spring planting season, Raye Hodgson of Hodgson Biologic will be offering a three-class gardening mini-course, "Seed to Success How Windsor Can Take Care of Itself!" sponsored by the Chamber's Green Committee.

Three Monday evening sessions. March 16, 23, and Monday, March 30 from 6:30 to 8:30 pm we will cover the basics of gardening, the many types of gardening, and get you started planning this year's garden in this course, entitled "Seeds to Success - How Windsor Can Take Care of Itself! - Gardening Class"

How many times have you put off your dream of a garden that would provide you with delicious, fresh, healthy fruit or vegetables? Have you had a few moments of unease about food prices and contamination scares?

Do you think that because of where you live, your schedule and other commitments, or your lack of formal training that it cannot be done? Perhaps you weren't raised on a farm, or never had a garden growing up.

There are literally thousands of sources of information on gardening. This class will include the opportunity for you to share your specific challenges, and get some help tailored to your site and schedule. Emphasis will be placed on sustainability and appropriate technology.

Class Schedule:
Session III:
Introduction to Harvest and Food Preservation
Walk-through Beginning Your Garden Plan
Specific Site Considerations Working with What You Have

Call the Windsor Chamber of Commerce at (860) 688-5165 to register.

Cost $10 per session per person.

About the Teacher:

Raye's formal training includes a B.S. degree in Renewable Natural Resources from the University of Connecticut, conservation planning certification from NRCS and a certificate in composting from the Maine Compost School.

She has taught individuals and groups (300 is the record) both youngsters and adults, in informal and formal classroom environments.

Raye has been gardening in one way or another for close to twenty years. Her own gardens include garlic, rhubarb, raspberries, blueberries, herbs, asparagus, Jerusalem artichokes (sunchokes), and a variety of native and non-native plants that contribute to the health of the whole system.

If you want more individualized support for your gardening, Raye offers reasonably-priced consulting services. For more information about these services, visit hodgsonbiologic.com on the web or call (203)888-3898.
