Maureen Sullivan is the Vice President of Retail Operations at Windsor Federal Savings. The bank was established in 1936 and its original location was above the Plaza Theater. It changed addresses a block away in 1950 at 230 Broad St. In 1957, Windsor Federal Savings moved a couple of doors down to 250 Broad St. where it remains today. The bank offers personal and business banking solutions, with online and mobile banking service. Their motto is “Neighbors Helping Neighbors.”

Maureen Sullivan was born in southern Illinois, moved in 4th grade to Maryland due to her father’s job transfer. She primarily grew up outside of Washington D.C. Maureen entered her first job in college working at a bank during summers. Her undergraduate education was Studio Art and Theatre. She went on to UCONN where she continued her studies, but didn’t quite finish her Masters Degree in Fine Arts for Theater because she jumped on the professional bandwagon and moved to Milwaukee, Wisconsin. There she did scenic artwork for regional theater. As a scenic artist, she tested into United Scenic Artists in New York City where she painted scenery for Broadway. Although successful with her job, city life was not for her. All the while, she did part-time banking. Maureen left NYC, and moved to Windsor (where her sister resided) and started her own business called Innerscapes, where she did all interior decorative painting, custom design stencil work, murals, wall glazing, faux finishes, etc. She did that between seven and eight years until her daughter was born. Since Maureen now had a child, she discontinued working with oils.

When her daughter reached the age of five, Maureen worked for the school system as a tutor at Roger Wolcott School. She says, “It was extremely rewarding.” All the while, she worked with Mechanics Savings Bank before transitioning to Windsor Federal Savings as part-time Drive-Up Teller. Every summer she would work full-time there until it was time to go back to school. After some thought, Maureen decided to pursue a career in banking by joining Windsor Federal Savings in Granby full-time. She started as a Teller Supervisor then to Personal Banker followed by Assistant Branch Manager. Maureen says, “The bank saw something in me that I didn’t know I had.” They enrolled her into Connecticut School of Finance and Management; the Connecticut Bankers Association runs a well-respected two-year program in the banking industry of CT.

In 2014, she graduated as Valedictorian. She then got promoted to Manager shortly afterwards, working the North Central Square office at 695 Poquonock Ave. for a year. Then she came to the main office for two years. In 2017, she was transitioned to Retail Officer, where she would oversee all of the branches. Again, she was promoted, most recently to Vice President of Retail Operations. She says about Windsor Federal Savings, “We are a community internally and externally. It’s a huge part of our mission.” They as a company are highly involved with many town events including their Shred Days. “It’s an outpouring of community support.” As of 2011, Windsor Federal Savings opened a branch and train students at Windsor High School. They support Go Baby Go, Tavern Trot, First Town Downtown, Shad Derby, and Windsor Family Feud.

As a resident of Windsor for thirty-one years she states, “Windsor has a lot to be proud of.” Maureen is very active within the community. She served on the Board of Directors of the Windsor Education Foundation. Maureen remains a strong supporter of the WEF to this day. She is involved with First Church of Windsor, Women Artists Collective. Maureen currently serves as an Ambassador for the Windsor Chamber of Commerce. She loves the Historical Society, Northwest Park, school system, and many other things.
